Mexico’s cable operator, Grupo Televisa S.A.B. is in talks with mobile operator Iusacell over a possible partnership in the mobile phone market.

“At this time, no agreement has been reached between Televisa and Grupo Iusacell. There can be no assurances that any agreement will be reached, or the timing or terms of any such agreement, if one is reached,” Televisa said in a statement.

Televisa last year bid with Nextel to acquire 3G spectrum rights in Mexico but later withdrew from the joint venture. The media company was previously rumoured to be an interested bidder to acquire Iusacell.
