Mexico Government plans stated owned Fibre Optic expansion

The government of Mexico aims to reach 70 percent of total homes in the country with internet services according to deputy telecoms minister Jose Ignacio Peralta Sanchez. The minister outlined the goal is to provide internet connectivity to 85% of the SMEs in the country. To achieve this, the Mexcian government plans to expand a fibre optic network owned by state-owned electric utility Federal Electricity Commission as well as to deploy a shared mobile services network in the 700 MHz band.
