Chile drafts bill to create secondary spectrum market

The government of Chile has sent a draft bill to Congress for the development of a secondary market to enable spectrum trading in the local telecoms industry.  The initiative seeks to allow spectrum holders to transfer or lease usage rights for the spectrum that they are currently not using.

The country’s Transport and Communications Minister Andres Gomez-Lobo said that the secondary market will enable operators to expand telecoms services and improve their quality of service.
