Axtel makes a loss in Q4



Axtel turns to net loss in Q4

Mexican fixed-line operator Axtel reported third quarter revenues up 1 percent year-on-year to MXN 2.7 billion from 2.6 billion in the year-earlier period. EBITDA reached MXN 794 million in Q4, down from MXN 908 million. The operator turned to net loss of MXN 93 million from a net profit of MXN 97 million in December 2009. Operating expenses totalled MXN 1.15 billion, up from MXN 1.06 billion for the same period of 2009.

At 31 December 2010, Axtel had 1.04 million voice lines in service, up by 8 percent year-on-year. Internet subscribers totalled 327,000, versus 174,000 in December 2009. The broadband subscriber base almost doubled during 2010 totalling 315,000 customers at end-December 2010.
