Telefonica launches investment fund in Latin America

Telefonica has launched its Wayra investment fund, to support ICT development throughout Latin America. The Wayra project aims to identify the talents with the most promising ideas in the field of ICT, as well as support their development, providing them with the technology, tools and the necessary funding.

“Wayra means ‘wind’ in the Quechua language, and what we want is that new winds of technology innovation rise up in Latin America, and the best talent in the region is not forced to migrate”, said Jose Maria Alvarez Pallete, president of Telefonica Latin America.

Wayra will provide funds to support the best projects of ICT development companies in the countries where Telefonica operates.
