Telefonica Brasil reaches 3 million Speedy customers

Telefonica Brazil announced that its broadband service Speedy has reached three million customers and had the best first half in its history with the addition of 363,000 subscribers, an increase of 14 percent compared to the end of last year. Compared with the customer base in the first quarter of this year, the operator added about 200,000 customers.

The company claims that number is almost twice as many new customers as the main direct competitor, Net Servicos.

Telefonica Brazil estimates investment in its network and systems at BRL 930 million this year, compared to BRL 750 million last year. From 1 August, Telefonica will reduce the price of the 2 Mbps internet access package by 11 percent to BRL 69.

Telefonica Brazil claims 23 percent of the broadband accesses in 13 million households in Sao Paulo.
