Colombia’s Avantel launches 4G service

avantelAvantel, the telecoms operator in Colombia has launched 4G services in the country, according to president Jorge Andres Palacio. The executive said that the operator has invested nearly USD 250 million to launch its 4G network.

The service was initially launched in 22 cities across Colombia. Avantel had selected Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) to supply the complete infrastructure for its LTE network. In 2013, Avantel acquired 30MHz of spectrum in the AWS band.
