Brazil Mobile Broadband Experienced Massive Growth in 2013

Brazilian fixed and mobile broadband connections increased by 55% to 133 million connections in 2013 according to the Brazilian Telecommunications Association

Mobile saw the most growth with a total of 111.4 million 3G and 4G activations (96.1 million mobile phones and 15.3 million data terminals such as modems).

The reason for the growth in mobile connections was the deployment of services in almost 200 cities during 2013. Fixed broadband closed 2013 with 22.3 million connections, representing a 39 percent penetration rate in Brazilian urban households.
