Brazil drops proposed internet governance legistation

The government of Brazil will not enforce a new legislation that forces global internet firms to store data on Brazilian users inside Brazil.

The legislation surrounding Internet governance was proposed in 2013 as backlash to the allegations the NSA had spied on Brazilian digital communications.

Government Minister Ideli Salvatti told Reuters that the legislation will mean companies like Facebook and Google will be subjected to the Brazilian law in cases involving information on Brazilians even the data is stored outside the country.
