Aetna Helps Customers Find Doctors in LatAm With New Smartphone App

aetnaAetna, one of the world’s largest medical insurers, has released a new mobile app to help its customers stay healthy when traveling in Latin America, and the Caribbean. This new app, which will be available on multiple platforms, can assist users by locating local doctors, specialists, clinics, and hospitals. As tourism and business travel grows in the region, apps like Aetna’s are important to the foreign traveler, and look to ease medical and treatment concerns for the average, or frequent traveler. Nearly every country is covered, and with strong LTE and data networks across the continent, easily accessible.

The app is versatile, offering content in Spanish, Portuguese and English. It will let Aetna’s international customers gain full access to local medical resources, and even map out directions, and give “before and after” tips on what to do about the appointments they’ve made. According to Eugene Marks, Aetna International’s GM in the Americas,  “Our goal is to make sure our global customers can easily find health care wherever they might be.”

Aetna’s Latin America Provider Directory is the latest in a series of smartphone apps for its global network of more than 100,000 health care providers outside the United States. The company also currently has apps that cover Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. In its field, Aetna is a well-known pioneer in developing mobile technology tools to help its customers manage their health.
